Azerbaijan's diverse tourism opportunities are currently on display in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, as the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau participates in the prestigious "Riyadh Travel Exhibition."

At this international event, the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau is joined by Azerbaijan Airlines JSC and the Shahdag Mountain Resort, along with representation from 13 local tourism industry stakeholders, all united under the national Azerbaijani stand.

Visitors of the stand are offered comprehensive insights into Azerbaijan's rich historical and cultural heritage. They are introduced to historical landmarks that have earned recognition on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Furthermore, attendees have the chance to sample the delights of Azerbaijan's national cuisine and explore the country's potential for ecotourism, health tourism, as well as both summer and winter tourism.

As part of the exhibition, the format includes B2B meetings, facilitating discussions and evaluations of potential collaboration opportunities with tourism companies from other participating nations.

The "Riyadh Travel Exhibition" has attracted more than 300 representatives from the tourism industry representing 55 countries worldwide. The event is scheduled to run until May 24, with an expected attendance of up to 30,000 visitors.

It is noteworthy that there has been a significant increase in the number of visitors from Saudi Arabia to Azerbaijan, with a threefold rise observed in April 2022 compared to the same month in the previous year. Saudi Arabia ranks among the top five nations in terms of flights to Azerbaijan in April 2023.

In 2022, visitors from Saudi Arabia claimed the top spot among Gulf countries, with 185,288 foreign citizens from the Gulf visiting Azerbaijan. Of these, 52% were Saudi Arabian citizens.

Furthermore, the Saudi Arabian airline company, "Flynas," operates direct flights between Baku and Riyadh, further facilitating travel between the two countries.

In December of the previous year, the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau and "Flynas" signed a "Memorandum of Understanding" to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector. This collaboration aims to promote tourism activities, develop joint projects, and stimulate tourist flow between the two nations.
